New Orleans Community Print Shop
In summer 2012, New Orleans Community Print Shop + Darkroom relocated to an unused historic warehouse at 1201 Mazant in the Bywater. While helping with the move (via Black Cat Moving and Hauling, 504-302-8598 ), it became evident that the existing screen storage situation was substandard. The new racks, designed and built with Rachel Speck of the Community Printshop, accommodate varying sizes of screens, with levels for long- and short-term storage. A drain pan below catches water from recently cleaned screens, while extra space and hooks are given for hanging squeegees and storing other printing tools.
As an extension of this work, I produced drawings for the 12,000 square foot warehouse (housing a Print Shop, woodshop, public and private studios) to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy and designed/managed construction/welded railings for a 2nd-floor studio and gallery space.
