Pizza Delicious Patio

Pizza Delicious, located at 617 Piety St in the Bywater and rated the "15th Hottest Pizzaria Across the US" by Eater.com, has outgrown their indoor seating area and wanted a more permanent outdoor gathering space.  Burke Rafter - who designed and built interior furniture for their initial opening - proposed the outdoor seating area design to the owners, at which point myself and Rob Miller were brought on to fabricate furniture and I managed the remaining build-out of the empty site.

Cedar fence boards were used as formwork, giving texture to the concrete wall, and were then cleaned, ripped down, and repurposed to create the table and bench tops.  An herb garden tailored to Pizza D's needs sits in the sun, while plantings selected and located for drainage + soil conditions provide shade from New Orleans' sun, with dimmable over lighting and LED strips under the benches providing a relaxed atmosphere at night. The service enclosure houses the dumpsters - previously sitting on the street -with cedar fenceboard cladding the interior side and a salvaged antique cypress lathe patchwork greeting the street.

EcoUrban Sustainable Landscaping and Joey O'Mahoney (of Transitional Spaces/Parisite Skatepark) rounded out the design-build team.
